Tour Overview
The Rongai Route approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, near the Kenyan border, making it the only route that starts on the northern side of the mountain. This 6-day itinerary is quieter and less crowded than southern routes, with gentler gradients and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities in the early stages. It offers good acclimatization and high summit success rates.
Descending via the Marangu Route on the southeast side, climbers enjoy varied scenery: from dry northern slopes with open plains and pine forests, through moorland and alpine desert, to the dramatic summit zone.
